Kayleigh Hall:

Kayleigh Hall is a seasoned curator, instructor, and arts researcher who has worked in a variety of arts sectors: commercial and public galleries, government and post-secondary environments. She values collaboration, mentorship, and fostering emerging talent, and studies ways that artistic practice and entrepreneurship are mutually beneficial. She studies how artists and curators use new methods to create experiences with art, teaches post-secondary students about organizing exhibitions and trends, while outlining the beneficial methods of developing a professional mindset and communication style in different contexts for artists and designers.

Previous projects have included retrospectives of Western Canadian artists, Indigenous exhibitions working as a co-curator with artists and scholars of the TRC, organizing traveling exhibitions (RBC Painting and Kingston Prize Portrait competitions, and “Off the Beaten Path” about violence and women), and curating group shows featuring artists who have unique voices and styles.

Currently, Kayleigh is a sessional instructor at the Alberta University of the Arts, where she teaches business, entrepreneurship, curatorial discourses, and art history. She holds an MA in the Histories of Art (University of East Anglia) and in 2020, completed her Advanced Management certificate through the Yale School of Management. She is also the curator of the Bow Valley College art collection and is a published art writer.

Marianne Elder:
For over 20 years, Marianne Elder has worked in galleries, higher education, and non-profit art organizations and has developed exhibitions and education programming in both the U.S. and Canada. Marianne’s experience includes being an Adjunct Professor teaching in the MA, and PhD, Arts and Cultural Management, and Museum Studies programs and BFA Visual Arts program at Claremont Graduate University and the University of California, Irvine; she served 8 years as the Associate Vice President, Student Affairs at AUArts; she spent 6 years as the MFA Program Administrator for Claremont Graduate University. She was the Senior Curator at the Art Gallery of Calgary, Gallery Director at East and Peggy Phelps Galleries, and Collections Manager for the Capital Collections Foundation, USA. Marianne is passionate about sharing her knowledge and experience and has developed professional practices workshops for emerging creative professionals.
